Blog from the crypt
I am sad to inform you all that we have to cancel the 3rd February's Corrosion. This is due to a drastic increase to how much we need to pay to use the venue and the Winter Gardens Preservation Trust insisting we provide 2 SIA qualified security. To break even we would have to charge more than double what most people would pay to get into a similar event in this area. This would leave no funds to put back into Corrosion to use for basic advertising or put towards growing the event. To make any profit to invest back into Corrosion we would have to charge a ridiculous entry fee. So we have had to make the very sad decision to cancel Corrosion this February. We are still in talks with the Winter Gardens Preservation Trust and hope we can come to an arrangement that benefits both parties. But at this time we are to close to the intended date to be messing about making people wait for an uncertain outcome with people not knowing if it is worth booking things like babysitters, transport and accommodation for an event that may or may not be on.
We hope Corrosion stays at the Winter Gardens even thought the Crypt is a very basic room with no heating and only 6 electrical sockets in one corner, in need of much thoughtful restoration that will not detract from its atmosphere. We love the venue but we do not like the proposed price tag!
